Give yourself permission to grow!

Growth and change are inevitable. However, some people either embrace change or they run from it. Change is also a great thing when it comes as a result of growth. It saddens me when people run from growth.

On the grind!

Many people allow people’s opinion of them to stop their growth. They are afraid of criticism or failure, so they reject growth. Most people want to be successful, but they are afraid to leave their comfort zone. This might include leaving the environment they grew up in; or leaving family and friends behind to pursue your dreams.

Success will not fall in your lap. Success is something you have to work hard at. Comfort does not draw success. Success draws comfort. Some of the most successful people I know endured a lot of pain and discomfort before they achieved their dreams. Steve Harvey, for example, lived in his car at one point in his life. Oprah Winfrey grew up poor and endured all types of humiliation growing up in the south. I have heard the stories from Katy Perry, Jennifer Hudson, Kevin Hart, President Obama’s and others, about their rise to massive success. It was not overnight. Similarly, some of the most talented people I know, did not attain success because they were too comfortable.

One thing I have learnt from all their stories is that success is guaranteed once you do not give up. Along the way, there are speed bumps, hurricanes, earthquakes, and even tornadoes. That is life. Give thanks to the Father that you are alive after the storm. Despite the challenges we encounter along the way, once you are alive, after all is said and done, you have the ability to keep it moving. Once you are alive, you are on the right track. Believe it or not, you are one step closer; you are almost there!

Always remember that people who really love you, will want to see your grow and succeed; even if they do not benefit from it financially or even if they do not understand your gift or dream. Many people are not growing because they surround themselves with people who are holding them back😎. They tell them things like, “You forget where you come from” or “You get rich and switch “😡. (Statements like these are very prevalent in black culture) If you are surrounded by people who think and talk this way, you are not in a very successful crowd.

If your childhood surrounding gives you nightmares, then it is ok to forget it. Everyone should aspire to get out of a place or situation that makes them unhappy. You can reach your goals quicker when you surround yourself with people who think like you , who are already doing what you want to do. Sometimes the past and the present don’t go together. Even in the English language. Winter and summer cannot happen at the same time. After summer, fall has to occur to welcome winter.

If you are experiencing growth in your life, or you want to experience growth and you are afraid, take a good look at the people around you who are speaking into your life and see what they are doing about their own lives. How can an unsuccessful person advise you about success?😎 The answer might be the solution to your problem.

Not everyone has the stamina or vision to climb the mountain with you. Some will be out of breadth after a mile; others will be climbing but constantly complaining about how tired they are and the “keepers” will be cheering you on, even when you get to the river and you are not sure how you are going to cross it.

If you are standing in a place in your life where you are not enjoying the view, press reset. Give yourself permission to grow; to want more for yourself and work through the failures that will come along the journey. Where you are today does not define where you will end up tomorrow. Be careful where you put your thoughts and who you share them with. Twenty-four hours can make a difference, so just do you and keep it moving.
