Have you ever achieved positive results thinking negatively? Most people don’t achieve their dreams due to the fear of failing. So many inventions go to the grave yard because somebody is fearful of failing, until they succeed.
We have one life to live. Few of us remember this when we spend our precious time being afraid. So many people are afraid to die but they are more afraid to live. It does not make sense. I know some 80 year old folks who are living a more fulfilling life than some 25 year olds.
I was recently reminded of how short life is and how quickly time passes, even if you live to 80 years old. I get emotional every time I see my aging parents, aunts and uncles. I realize that as soon as my husband and I are finished raising our children we begin caring for our parents. It is almost like a rite of passage. In some cases, you are caring for both teenage children and aging parents. It is a quick cycle.
As I am facing this reality, I remind myself of how important it is to enjoy my life and the company of all my loved ones. I spent the past week looking at albums from my childhood. It brought up old memories I wish I could have bottled. Most of all, when I saw photos from my childhood, it reminded me of how quickly time flies. I saw people in my childhood albums who were in their prime not too long ago. Today, some are gone and some are losing their memory. I felt sad for a moment but then I realized that feeling sad or afraid is not the answer. It’s all a part of the life cycle.
This glimpse into my past was a gentle reminder that I need to be present at all times. I was reminded by my past that it is very important to make the best of “right now”. I realized that I need to laugh more, even when I don’t feel like laughing, dance more, even if I can’t. Nothing or no one is worth the stress if it prevents you from living your best life.
Life is short. These days, one year feels like six months. My resolution for 2018 is to be grateful everyday. Most of all, I want to live like I am not afraid to fail. No dream is too big for me to achieve because I do not want to be standing at the end of my life saying “I should have”. I encourage everyone chasing a dream to run towards it like it only belongs to you, and have no regards for the people who will laugh when you fail. Those same people will tell everyone someday that you are their friend, when you finally succeed.
Remember to tell your loved ones how much you love them and while you are pursuing your dreams don’t take life so seriously, have fun. Be sure to laugh at your failures and celebrate your victories. At the end of your life, you will not regret trying to fulfill your dreams, but you will regret the fact that you did not at least try. What would the world be like if Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Bill Gates or President Barack Obama and others did not chase their dreams?😎 Exactly, “go get your life”.
