I was asked recently by a stranger, “What do you do for a living?” I smiled politely and responded, “I am in the ‘Kween’ business.” The person seemed confused and you might be to, so let me explain.

I was also surrounded by women of shades of brown, who did not want to be labeled as black or preferred to be categorized as mixed. To be fair, when you do your research, you will discover that most of us are mixed. Overall, I was surrounded by people trying to put a label on you and there were advantages and disadvantages to your label.
When you join the “Kween” business you only hang with “Queens”. You will not allow another woman or man to take away your title by the treatment you accept. This is “Kween” business. What are the qualifications to join this business, you may ask? Your personal standards. You treat others as you would like to be treated. You don’t answer to ever dog that barks after you, as you are too busy living your best life. When you see women treating other women badly or bad mouthing them, please forgive them. People will only try to pull you down when they feel like they are beneath you. They have never felt like queens one day in their lives, so they do not know how to receive a queen.

On this blog, and our Youtube channel/basiapowell, will feature some truly amazing queens from around the world that are trail bailers, pioneers, risk takers and unapologetically “Slayers”.
Today, I salute all the amazing queens who I represent. I am so excited to bring this new digital TV series to you. I encourage all women to join the “Kween” business. It is life changing. You ready? #Sheready
