My Interview on Indian Marriages

There is no wedding like an Indian wedding. An Indian wedding happens over a period of a week. It is normally an extravagant and exciting affair. However, there is also no marriage like a “traditional Indian marriage”. Historically, Indian marriages are based on an arrangement made by the parents of both parties and has very little to do with falling in love first. I have always been intrigued by the Indian practice of arranged marriages.

For this reason, during my recent visit to India, I had the opportunity to interview , Indian comedian, Jeeveshu Ahluwalia and his wife to be, Sanjoni Sethi. After spending time with them, I was pleasantly surprised to discover, that many young Indian couples are moving away from the traditional form of matrimony, and are choosing to marry for love, or what they call in India, “love marriages.”

I enjoyed my conversation with Jeeveshu and Sanjoni. Jeeveshu is a pretty famous comedian in India, and he makes me laugh constantly, but I was more impressed with who he is as a man and a human being. As for Sanjoni, her gentle spirit and kind hearted demeanor, made me want to chat with her all day.
