My London summer 2019 exploits continue. This summer we wanted a fun loving, adventurous UK holiday. One of my bucket list “must dos” was High Tea at the famous Fortnum and Mason.
For many years I have bought classic tea blends from this landmark tea store, but never took the time to stop by for tea. This summer I crossed it off my bucket list.It was a lovely day, even though we were greeted by some light showers. We started off by meeting up with some of our British relatives for lunch. We dined at a Japanese restaurant in Covent Gardens. We ordered an assortment of prawn/pork dumplings, and crab/pork dumplings. Afterall,were saving our appetite for High Tea at Fortnum and Mason.
Upon our arrival at the famous tea shop off Piccadilly Street, we were directed to the Diamond Jubilee room, where the most spectacular ambience for High Tea awaited us. The table was nicely laid out with fresh orange roses, as the center piece, and spectacular “tiffany blue” china. It was just as I had imagine. Real English tea time with my fabulous husband, my cousin, and my high school girlfriend, who decided to join us last minute.
It was all good. We ordered both Savory Tea and High Tea from the menu. They served a wide assortment of tea, herbal infused, black, green and more. The Savory Tea menu consists of an assortment of sandwiches, scones, plus cakes. The High Tea menu, consists of a lobster dish as well as, scones, jams and cakes.
As the British would say, “It was lovely.”Would I return? Perhaps only to purchase their famous teas, but not necessarily to have “High Tea”. The experience was pleasant, but it is officially crossed off my bucket list. Would I recommend the experience to someone else who have not done it? For sure.
In the meantime, time to try another item on my bucket list.Cheers
