The Greener The Grass…

By Basia Alicia Powell

Most of us have been told by our parents that , “The grass always looks greener on the other side.” In short, things are never what they appear to be. So many of us spend time wishing our circumstances or lives were different, when in fact we are exactly where we are supposed to be.

Very often we are so focused on how green the grass is in our neighbour’s yard. We often neglect to make note of the fertilizer being used on that grass. Why waste time envying your neighbor’s grass? Why not admire the hustle? Look at how hard they are working to get the grass green.

We all have to go through challenges in life. Some of us focus on watering and fertilizing our grass , while others focus on watching other people’s grass grow. The choice is yours. No matter what choice you make, please understand that the grass does not grow by simply watching it. It requires water and fertilization.

Life is not a bed of roses. We all go through different seasons. There is a time to plant, fertilize and reap. We need both the rain and the sun for the grass to grow. As human beings, we must face good times and bad times. We don’t like the bad times, but it is a part of our life cycle. With the right attitude, we can grow through our pain and turn our pain into passion.

The moral of the story is, grass does not grow green and nice on it’s own. It requires work. Most people work hard for their reward. However, there is always a period of struggle and planting that proceeds a season of reaping and flourishing. Keep working hard and watering your grass with a good attitude and plenty of gratitude, and eventually you will succeed. Focus on what you have, not what you don’t have.

Go grow your grass!

Blessings
