A Fresh Coat Of Paint

By Basia Alicia Powell

Sometimes what you are looking for is right in front of you, but all it needs is a fresh coat of paint. I love redecorating and spring time has that effect on me. I love switching things up with my home with each season. The hardest season for me is winter. I feel like winter stifles my creativity. Like the trees my lraves fall off and then spring brings back the colors. At the start of each new season, I change textures, colors of walls, rugs, throw pillows, planters and furniture the list goes on.

Recently, I have been trying to do this on a budget. (You know, a girl has to watch her coins, chile). Anyways, I have developed the hobby of remodeling and updating some furnishings. It starts with a fresh coat of paint in the right color. You will be amazed at how this can change the look of your entire room, in a good way.

On this occasion, I chose to change the color of one of my shelving units in my dining room. Truthfully, I have never loved the color of the item. I bought it grey and I got a good deal on. I love a deal! What influenced my decision to purchase was due to the functionality of this particular furniture piece. It is very versatile and can be used almost anywhere, like the livingroom, dining room, bedroom, deck, patio or kitchen. It can be used as a book shelf, to store plants, picture frames, dishes, vases, dishes, shoes ,handbags and the list goes on.

For a long time I have been trying to decide on the right color for this unit and I think I have figured it out. I chose a blue/green color to compliment the accent wall in my dining room and I am quite pleased with the end result. Take a look.

What a difference a little bit of color makes. What was once unnoticeable is now the first thing you notice when you walk into the room. Amazing💖
