We Cannot Live In Fear

By Basia Alicia Powell

So many lives are ruled and ruined by fear. Everyone of us experience some kind of fear. Fear is not always bad or a sign of weakness. It can be a signal from the brain that something greater is about to take place and a major exciting change is about to occur. Let us not forget the acronym for fear is, “False Evidence Appearing Real.”

People are usually afraid to “go up”, which is why many people remain comfortable where they are in their lives. It takes everything and more inside of you, to decide to go to another level or jump off a cliff and grow wings. Taking leap of faith involves being unafraid of heights. The higher the risk, the greater the reward.

What cliff are you afraid to jump off? Are you afraid to take flight? Full disclosure, I am afraid of flying, but I am not afraid of rising. Sounds funny, as I have to travel to earn my living. Flying makes me uncomfortable, it takes me out of my comfort zone, but I do it anyway, because I would not reach my desired destination if I don’t board a flight.

Today, I urge you to take flight, run, or jump. You have nothing to lose. It’s your life, so live it. Stop blaming others for holding you back from jumping. If you want it bad enough, you will do what you have to do.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer at a “tender” age of 36 years, and I was not afraid. It made me more determined. It taught me that God does not take anything from you without giving you better. And you know what else I discovered recently, more people died from Caronavirus in the past year than from cancer. So we cannot live in fear. We must live in peace and love.

Most of all, be present, stop doubting and being negative. Sometimes we have to jump to be able to live our dreams, because if we stay where we are , we won’t be able to get what we want or to our desire destination.

So today let’s face our fears, put a stop to the lies we are telling ourselves and jump or fly. Whatever you decide to do, just keep it moving.

You feel me?
