If Walls Could Talk?

I must say, the walls are talking in the interior design world. Wall art is the secret weapon for designers, realtors, and home flippers. It is the queen of staging a home or property for sale. How are these walls talking to us? They are talking with colors, textures,  vintage art pieces, geometric shapes , and other striking attributes.

Here is a list of our favorite wall art materials being used to create mirrors and photo frames to make our spaces beautiful:

  • Gold and metalic art pieces. This can be used on the wall using structured hanging pieces.
  • Textured Fabric – These fabrics or tapestries can be  used on the wall or in frames. Even rugs are leaving the floors and covering our walls.
  • Murals for large accent walls. These days, murals have become quite popular in upscale restaurants,  colleges, and trendy offices. Even churchs have added to the mural craze to their walls.
  • Wicker wall art has made a comeback, particularly in mid century modern home decor.
  • Bold paint colors for accent walls are also making a comeback. An accent wall color or multicolors done in asymmetrical designs in more contemporary rooms are taking its inspiration once again from the mid century era.
  • Bold paintings with gold and metalic accents are highly sought after by many interior designers to cover those large accent walls.
  • Leather can be used to accentuate mirrors and photo frames. It adds a sense of warm masculinity to your room.

PLANTS

Even walls are going green. Plants are not only being used in planters. There are also being grown on our walls, indoors and outdoors. Plants like the ivy and succulents are making our walls talk by adding much needed greenery, oxygen, and conversations to our rooms.

TEXT

@basia_homes

Even bold text is being used as wall art. Motivational words can be painted on the walls, placed in frames or painted on drift wood or reclamined wood to bring inspiration to our walls.

I have decorated many homes over the past few years. Interestingly enough, I have never been able to tie it all together without creative and sophisticated wall art. Wall art is the jelly to my peanut butter sandwich.  Our homes would be nothing without it. A house is not a home without it. Have a look around your home. What are your walls saying to you?
