Mental Health Crisis Affecting Women

We are all desirous of living a great life and in a better world. The truth is, the world is just a space that we all occupy. Therefore we have to do our part to make this world a better place. Many people are hurting, as we are all living through a global mental health crisis, that got even worse after the Covid-19 pandemic . In order for things to get better, we all have to take responsibility for what is going on in our minds.” Healthy Equals Happy”.

Today my ladies and I opened up about the impact the past year and pandemic have had our own mental health. I know we are not alone. The question is, “How do we move forward and become a healthier version of ourselves? We all need to design a path to improving and maintaining healthy, happy minds. As our expert Dawn Townsend calls it, “We need to take care of our mental wellness”.

This is such an important issue, I decided to invite Mrs Dawn Townsend, a licensed therapist based in the United States to join our broadcast today. This is not an easy topic, so we had to call in the expert in order to have an informed and responsible discussion.

Licensed Therapist – Townsend’s Biography:

It is my belief that we all are designed for a specific purpose in life and at times, our journey is hindered by life’s circumstances that can leave us feeling helpless, confused, and hopeless. I firmly believe that our life’s circumstances do not have to inhibit us from reaching our true potential and purpose in life, which is why I continue to advocate for diminishing the stigma related to mental health. This belief and philosophy have charted my path as a servant in the helping profession, continuously promoting mental wellness, one person, one relationship, one family, one community at a time.
My name is Dawn Townsend, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor with more than 15 years of clinical experience working in various capacities within the mental health field serving individuals, couples, families and our surrounding communities. I believe that the therapeutic process is only as effective as the participants involved and therefore, purposefully utilize a shared approach to helping you achieve greater wellness.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Spelman College and a Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from Mercer University. I provide a range of therapeutic and counseling services and am honored to be of service to you. I am deeply passionate about providing a high standard of holistic care and excellent service delivery to the whole person in a supportive, non-judgmental environment that fosters hope and creates change through the application of evidenced-based treatment modalities and trauma-informed care. I remain extremely enthusiastic and dedicated to the work that I provide and look forward to being an asset to helping you along your journey.
